Work Information
I started my career in atmospheric research at KNMI (research department
of the Meteorological office in the Netherlands), where I specialized in atmospheric
turbulence, boundary-layer meteorology and air pollution diffusion. I had temporary assignments at the University of Cambridge (1983/84) and the World Meterological Organization (1989/91). In 1991 I became a staff member and associate professor at the Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Sciences of the University of Utrecht (IMAU) with a research assigment in boundary-layer meteorology, modelling of transport and chemistry of atmospheric constituents and atmospheric remote sensing. I was a member of various national and international scientific committees, associate editor of Atmospheric Environment and active as a consultant and peer reviewer.
I retired in september 2009. I devote most of my time to playing chamber music as an amateur violonist. Recently I developed some interest in music theory (scales, harmony, temperament et cetera) and into climatology for solar panes. I am director of a little company (Sol Illustra Nos) producing electricity (~ 4 KW) from solar panes.
This website is permanently under construction. Only the links to my curriculum (curriculum), lecture notes and publications (Publications) are up to date.
